In a context where the impacts of climate change are increasingly being felt in urban environments, a commitment to ecological transition initiatives and achievements in municipal practices is essential. The Borough of Rosemont – La Petite-Patrie has drawn up a master development plan to protect, support and enhance the urban biodiversity of its territory. Based on a biodiversity portrait that provides a better understanding of the territory, the plan identifies strategies and opportunities for interventions on the public domain to conserve and reintroduce biodiversity in a dense, heavily mineralized urban context. It is a reference tool that will guide future development projects in the borough. This planning document also supports an innovative overall vision.

In 2040, the citizens of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie will enjoy daily contact with nature and its biodiversity, which will contribute to improving their health and well-being. Fauna and flora have flourished thanks to the introduction of new water and land habitats connected between its parks, alleys and streets, as well as on public and private property. This ecological connectivity, combined with the reinforcement of existing habitats, has contributed to a significant increase in biodiversity in the borough and in connecting natural environments elsewhere on the island. The abundant biodiversity forms a green and blue network that enhances the quality of the landscape and the comfort of journeys through the city, encouraging the adoption of active transport and intensifying community life.
