In collaboration with Chevalier Morales Architects, designers of the buildings, civiliti was commissioned for the landscape architecture component of the residential rental complex (MIL Haus rental condos) to be built on the Outremont site, a former railway triage yard. The mandate included the detailed design of the spaces adjacent to the public domain as well as the interior courtyards of the 3 buildings, the selection of materials, plants and furniture as well as the design of grading strategies and stormwater management principles associated with severe topographical constraints.

The landscape concept is rooted in the history of a site with strong heritage value and its proximity to the railroad line. The lines of force, the language developed and the material palette chosen, dominated by Corten steel, draw their inspiration from this railway and wasteland past, while celebrating its transformation. The landscaping of the shared courtyards, driveway and front yards aims to create a lively, friendly and green living environment, while providing a good balance between privacy and community.
