The design of Marcelle Ferron Square, located on Bernard Avenue at the intersection of Épée Avenue, was developed in 2024 to mark the 100th anniversary of the artist’s birth. This project was carried out in collaboration with the municipality of Outremont, the friends of Marcelle-Ferron Square, and the representatives of the Royal-York Residence, for whom this space serves as a natural extension of their ground floor. The reconfiguration of the square also marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Outremont.

The design of the square is inspired by the stained-glass compositions of Marcelle Ferron, a signatory of the Refus global manifesto and a key figure in Quebec’s cultural landscape. The new square is intended as both a gathering place and a celebration of the artist. The choice of materials, the plant compositions, and the integration of a water element combine to reflect the rich pictorial legacy of Ferron’s work as a painter, while providing a warm and inviting atmosphere.
