Planning mandate completed

The City of Montreal, the Borough of Lachine and the community are working together on a detailed planning project for the Lachine East sector. Upstream of the Lachine Rapids, north of the Lachine Canal, this 60-hectare area with its industrial past is destined for a major transformation into a complete and diversified living environment, including a large amount of housing, a civic and sports hub, a revitalized public realm with a network of connected mobility and green spaces. Identified as the first eco-neighborhood on the island of Montreal, the Lachine East sector will become a precedent and an example for other boroughs and communities, both for its vision and for the mixed governance model put in place to create the master plan.

civiliti was commissioned to support the City of Montreal’s Urban Planning Division and its partners in the development of the master plan, to produce illustrations representative of the future living environment and to co-facilitate the consultation workshops. Based on the current progress of the master plan, the mandate was to anchor the plan in an identity-based organization of the main public spaces, the mobility network and the built environment, while enhancing the heritage narrative unique to the area.
